Aaron, Leanne and Jess extend the warmest of welcomes to you at Sonachan House. We are a family run, licensed bed & breakfast offering lovely, relaxed accommodation in a home from home atmosphere.
Sonachan House is an early 1900’s Edwardian property which still retains many of its original features but has been lovingly refurbished to bring it into modern day living. We are located in a quiet area of Paignton in Torbay, South Devon, the heart of the English Riviera, where you can settle into the sound of the birds but being close enough to all the local areas and attractions that the English Riviera has to offer!
From Sonachan House you can walk to two lovely beaches (Paignton & Goodrington) and to the South West Coast Path within 5 to 10 minutes. Paignton Zoo is 5 minutes away by car. Paignton town centre and the Dartmouth Steam Railway are also only a 10 minute walk away.
Sonachan House can offer guests 9 en-suite bedrooms with a choice of rooms including single, double, superior doubles and family suites sleeping up to five (2 adults & 3 children, minimum 8 years age restriction) all on a room only basis with an optional supplementary hamper style breakfast.

All our rooms are centrally heated and equipped with tea & coffee making facilities, flat screen smart tv’s, mini-fridge, hair dryer, quality white bed linen & white fluffy towels, complimentary shampoo & shower gel in our new environmentally friendly refillable pumps and cool air fans for those warm long summer nights. We also have a limited number of mobile air conditioning units we can offer guests.
Sonachan House has free complimentary Wifi through out the building including all guest bedrooms. We can also provide free secure private off road parking to the rear of the building, in our on site car park which can accommodate 6 cars or small vans on a first parked basis (not suitable for vehicles bigger than a SWB transit). There is also ample free on road parking outside the building.
We have a well stocked bar including a selection of Real Ales from Paignton’s local Bays Brewery. We also sell their Windfall Cider made from 100% West Country apples. (Please Note: The bar is only available on a pre-arranged basis for group bookings)
You are more than welcome to relax in our guest lounge with its comfy seating and large screen digital smart TV. There are also plenty of toys and games for those rare wet days, or to keep the children amused.
Guests are welcome to enjoy our gardens, including our fantastic deck, where you can relax and take in the peace & quiet of our surroundings.

Thank you for a fabulous week at Sonachan House
Aaron and Leanne had taken over Sonachan House just a couple of weeks prior to our stay. We descended 'en mass' as we are quite a large family group and have been coming to this hotel for many years. Aaron and Leanne were extremely welcoming and helpful all week and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel has everything needed for a comfortable home from home and was immaculately clean. For those not familiar with the area, this hotel is just perfectly placed between Goodrington and Paignton and is just a 10 - 15 mins walk to either. Breakfast was fabulous. We will definitely be back, from the Shakespeare's etc

highly recommended B&B
New owners Leanne and Aaron were very friendly. Great breakfast, Nice communal lounge, Very clean ensuite bedroom. Free towels and bucket and spade use. Aaron says he will be doing fishing trips next year for guests. My wife and and I stopped 5 nights. Will definitely use again.

Lovely stay
Leanne and Aaron had recently taken over the guest house. They were very friendly and professional. They had already replaced all the bed linen and towels- lovely. I had a single room for three nights as I was visiting my sister who lives nearby which was clean and had everything I needed. I did not take advantage of the bar and living room facilities as I was out most of the time. However, I was impressed with the children's beach equipment and towels you could use as well as the indoor games. Will definitely be back!

Family holiday
Brand new owners had taken over the establishment the day prior to our arrival but that did not affect our visit at all. Both Leanne and Aaron were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, couldn't ask for better hosts. Breakfast was amazing or as my son would quote ‘the sausages were banging’. Will be returning next year and highly recommend the place to others

Brilliant
My family and I stayed here for an extra long weekend. The business has been taken over by new management on the day of our arrival. But the two issues we found were sorted by yrhe new management. They are a lovely friendly family who don't mind children with needs and are very interested in your view. The rooms we had a brilliant and the breakfast. Well it's definitely on the top of the list for taste ease of changes and prepared on time of ur arrival u ask for. If any one else jas kids with needs or kids in general the have a selection of games books and sand toys to take to the beach. There is a lovely rear garden area and a cool pond behind a fence u can access but don't have to worry kids will fall in as is se ure. Unlike most places they have a laundry line u can hang ur wet clothes from the beach up on . And is safe enough it's all back there when ur back .The car park is a lil steep but has ample parking . I don't say this often but the new management definitely brighten your morning up when u get breakfast and always meet you with a smile and cheerfulness. I would give more stars if I could

Just got back from a weekend at the Sonachan second time here and loved it we stayed bed and breakfast rooms very nice ground floor number 2 for me number1 for rob number 7 for mickie breakfast was smashing juce tea toast and a full english well set for the day after that with a great little out side sitting area and bar it was a nice place to head back to the couple looking after us were fab and sorry but i forgot their names but they realy were great overall spotless hopefully be back soon as you look at the front of the sonachan go right to paington and left to goodrington

Fantastic stay
This is the second time we have been at this hotel and It was like coming home. Amanda, Ian, Joan and Chris are an apsolute credit to themselves. There hospitality is so great and nothing is to much trouble. We stayed in a double room and our grandson had a single room with a double bed which was classed as a single room. The rooms were spacious tidy, clean and fully complied with the covid rules.The breakfast was full English and plenty of choice was avaliable to suit anyone's palate.This is excellent value for our stay and we are returning in September 2021.Kindest regardsSue and Reg Walker

Amazing hospitality and lovely place
Me and my family ain’t with our friends stayed at Sonachan House Hotel for 3 days ( 3rd June and 5th June 2021). We would like to thank the hosts Amanda and Ian, for their fantastic hospitality. They were so friendly and kind. The House Hotel is in the perfect location on Paignton Devon sea front. The House Hotel had all the hand sanitisers and procedures to comply with the Covid 19 restrictions. It was clean, quiet and the amazing breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Sonachan House if you are taking a trip to Paignton. Wishing both Amanda and Ian good luck, and the hard wor, love and passion you both are putting into running the house Hotel will take you to places.Great accommodation, very comforting, and making our trip really memorable - Komal and Gautam Room 11.

Short family break.
Stayed here back in September for a short family break. Booked late but got a great deal. I contacted the hosts in advance to check on various things and always got a quick and helpful response.The location is great, a short walk downhill to either Paignton beach on one side or Goodrington Sands on the other. The hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable both on arrival and throughout the visit. We were very impressed with the Covid compliant policies in place and felt completely safe throughout the stay.There is off street parking at the rear of the property.The rooms were very good, perfectly adequate for a short stay.Breakfast was great with good choices.We used the small residents bar on two of the nights. This was nice and the owners were very happy to spend time with us.All in all a fantastic place to stay. Ian and Amanda and his parents were fantastic hosts. Thanks again and we hope to see you in the near future.

First class b&b
Stayed here for 2 nites. Very friendly owners. Rooms were spotless. Breakfast first class. Loved the decking area in the garden where you could sit and have a drink in the evening. Owners on the ball with Covid, hand sanitizer at the entrance and in the bar/dining area. Lots of useful leaflets about the area in the porch. The only downside was the location, very steep hill back up to the hotel from the town. Don’t let this put you off though. Will defintely stay here again

Fantastic stay
